Lomography - photography by Liad Cohen

Liad Cohen Photography

About Lomography:

Lomography is the commercial trademark of Lomographische AG, Austria for products and services related to photography. The name is inspired by the former state-run optics manufacturer LOMO PLC of Saint Petersburg, Russia. LOMO PLC created and produced the 35 mm LOMO LC-A Compact Automat camera - which became the centerpiece of Lomography's marketing and sales activities. This camera was loosely based upon the Cosina CX-1 and introduced in the early 1980s.

Great online resource - Phototree

Ever wished that there was a way to easily browse through Flickr to find photographs which are catered to your taste? Well, there is now. Phototree is a search engine which allows you to browse through hundreds of photographs from Flickr. It works very similarly to Stumbleupon, only without the toolbar.

It has a rating system, and as you rate each photograph it presents to you, it will “learn” what kinds of image you like and dislike and adjust the images that it presents to you accordingly. It will also save any of the images that you have rated positively in a favourites folder which gives you the option of going back and browsing through the photographer's photostreams at your leisure.

I have been using this for a while now and it is easy to use, giving you the opportunity to see images that you normally may miss. It's a great online resource and it's absolutely free.

Full on Urban Decay Photostream by confusedvision at Flickr

A really nice photostream from confusedvision at Flickr. A lof of his work just stinks of urban decay which I love and is tastefully captured to create really atmospheric photographs. I just had to keep on going through several pages of his work as he had my full attention.

I would advise taking a thorough look at his portfolio. It makes for total browsing joy.

Nice Flickr Set by Karl's

Do you know who I am?

A nice online portfolio from Karl's on Flickr. There is a nice diverse mixture of shots from the extremely high contrast black and white shots to vibrant shots like this.

Definately worth a look.

Daniela Edburg Photography

To put it simply, Daniela Edburg makes kitsch and beautiful photographs of women murdered or to be killed by consumer goods. She said that the work is by no means critical. The most rudimentary reading Marxist would say that these beautiful ladies are imprisoned for his own obsession with these products capitalists, predominantly post-NAFTA, such as Miss Clairol, Pandit, Tupperware, Nutella and Canderel. If these girls are not dead, you will see, are virtually dead by their total dependence on those articles.

National Geographic Photo of the Day

Photo: Drying laundry

Laundry on Lines, High Atlas Mountains, Morocco, 2005

Photograph by Alexandra Boulat

Colorful laundry dries on lines in a Berber village in Morocco's High Atlas Mountains. Many Berbers, or Amazigh, fled to the highlands following the Arab conquest of North Africa in the seventh century A.D. Unlike the Berbers who remained with their conquerors, those who went to the High Atlas have until today managed to preserve their identity, their language, and their independence.

(Text adapted from and photo shot on assignment for, but not published in, "Among the Berbers: A Journey Through Morocco's High Atlas Mountains," January 2005, National Geographic magazine)

About The Photographer - Alexandra Boulat

This is a really nice and easy to navigate site which has lots of fantastic and interesting photography to look at and even some photography advice from National Geographic photographers: Ask a National Geographic Photographer.

Have a look around the photo of the day section here.

A fantastically diverse portfolio of work from photographer, Denis Oliver. A worthwhile addition to any RSS feeder. This photographer has already been featured at the Estetica Design & Photography Forum, but sadly would have appeared to have been overlooked. It is an absolute joy to browse through his galleries.

A statement from the photographer.

The London Photographic Association

The London Photographic Association (LPA) celebrates the art of modern photography and allows commercial and fine art photographers to show work and market themselves through a recognised industry association.
LPA membership provides its ranks with a marketplace in which to show their photographic portfolios, hold online exhibitions and sell prints through Gallery 1839.

The LPA recognises that the uptake of digital technology has radically altered the way in which commercial and fine art photography is commissioned, produce, stored, transported and marketed. With the growth of the Internet comes greater scope for image distribution and event hosting. So, what better way to celebrate the power of the online image than to join the leading online-based industry association?

Whether you're an established pro, an up-and-coming artist, photography student, established artist or simplyinterested in way the industry works, membership of the LPA will give you benefits you can't get by going it alone.
